Happily Excited with Virtually No Experience
Welcome, Team members and Classmates!
For several days, I thoughtfully considered the topic areas in which I will focus my development this semester. To engage my interest and motivate learning, they must have a meaningful application, etcetera. And for days, a beautifully clean yet blank slate appeared, pristine in its invitation to creativity. Maddening in its refusal to budge until this evening, when the threat of a missed deadline finally smashed through that slate with the force of a sledgehammer.
Enrichment activities for third grade students will be my topic this semester.
Christian & Mo are both third graders - Christian is a bright third grader because he is supposed to be there. Mo is repeating the third grade because he never learned the material from the second grade and barely made it out of the first grade. Mo is smart, but he has attention-deficit issues that make it difficult for him to focus.
For the Christians, I am searching for ways to engage their attention and challenge them while still appealing to the Moes, who have the ability to learn and often demonstrate this fact. Comprehension, writing and math skills will form the core of my lesson designs. Activities that develop higher level skills will be emphasized to help Christian and Mo optimize their learning experience.

November Wiki Assignment

This tool imports PowerPoints and allows you to embed videos and add audio to automated presentations. It's kind of neat, and free. You can make your files public or private, which is good for training virtual teams or asynchronous online ed sessions.

This web resource is pretty cool for language instructors. It creates multiple choice quizzes and also bilingual tests. Some use restrictions do apply, though. For example, there are some quizzes that can only be used from the Charles Kelley website. This is really the only drawback to it that I can see, though. It doesn’t appear any better or worse than sites like Survey Monkey or Survey Builder.
